Synopsis
Shoshanah White has always had a love for fashion. After going to South Africa for Joburg Fashion Week, and meeting the man of her dreams, Erick, a Nigerian model living in the neighborhood of Norwood, she decides to make the move to Johannesburg (or Joburg, as the locals say) to pursue a career in fashion journalism. Africa Fashion Week offers the hope of red carpets, champagne-filled parties, fabulous outfits, and the perfect job at a major fashion magazine.
But things quickly get complicated — work is hard to come by without the right visa, the relationship with the man of her dreams quickly turns into a nightmare, and she starts to find out that there are more obstacles for a Black American girl in South Africa than she could have ever imagined. Shoshanah struggles to juggle everything that life in Joburg tosses her way.
Set against the backdrop of the historical 2010 World Cup, The Joburg Juggle is a fun and romantic story about one woman’s bold journey taking on culture clash, sexism, classism, racism, and all the challenges of embarking on completely unknown terrain.
